Hello! I’m Lucanne

Have you ever found yourself feeling uplifted and soothed by a song, a piece of music, a poem or seeing a beautiful image in nature or a painting of a sunrise or sunset? While these awe-filled experiences and moments of inspiration can be and are so meaningful, there are times in our lives when we may also need a therapeutic source of support to help us find meaning and purpose and improve our abilities to cope with life’s challenges. We all have times in our lives when we may be going through a time of loss with feelings of grief, or times when we may be struggling with feelings of anxiety, loneliness, sadness or stress. As it is sometimes hard to put our thoughts and feelings into words, I have found that incorporating creative approaches, including music and the arts- personally designed together with you- to be very helpful. In therapy sessions with me, clients are offered a supportive space for sharing concerns and areas of struggle along with a variety of art forms, including live and/or recorded music, instruments, painting, writing, storytelling.

Here is a little about me. I have degrees in psychology, music therapy and the creative arts therapies and am a licensed and certified music therapist and creative arts therapist. I am also a certified grief counselor and grief educator. I have many years of experience working with individuals of all ages, including children, adults and seniors and have worked with couples and families as they journey through times of loss, grief and transition. I have lived in numerous locations in our country as well as overseas, and my practice is humanistic/person and culturally-centered, incorporating the arts as additional forms of expression. Our visits may include life review, songs, drawing, painting, compiling a memoir and/or reviewing photos- all based on what is important to you and all with the purpose in mind of helping you find meaning, connect to your sense of purpose and experience improved inner well-being.

Special practice areas include grief counseling, anxiety, stress management, relationship issues, including parent-child and family issues, coping with acute, long-term illnesses and it’s impact on relationships in life and seeking sense of purpose and meaning in life.

I am new to North Carolina and new to Brinkley Brown. I look forward to helping you find new paths to living a full, meaningful life.
